Locations - Kim Bradbury

From this image you can see where most of the filming takes place and through the glass you can see the tree which the stalker is hiding behind and the living room where the girl walks in, takes her scarf off, eats the biscuits and greets the dog which goes missing.

From this veiw you can see the double height space and where the girl walks in through the front entrace and also the balcony from which I film a part where the girl is eating the biscuits.

From this image you can see the outside of the house where the car parks and you see the daughter walk into the house

Locations - Charlotte Woodward

This is the kitchen where I will film my project - this is the scene where the girl picks up the phone and is in contact with the 'stalker', who shows his face soon after at the window here.

This is my utility room in which the girl will walk in to access the backdoor.

This is my utility door from the outside. I will film this door from a distance, just outside my garden as there is a field behind it. I will film from the field behind the fence to show that it is a 'tracking' shot to convey as if the 'stalker' is watching her. She will look out of the door window to see if anyone is out there, then lock the door.

This is an image of my hall. The door on the left is the kitchen, from which the girl will open the kitchen door onto the hall in order to look around and look up to the landing.

This is a shot of the banisters, leading  up to my landing. This section of banisters at the front will be where I film the stalkers trousers to portray him looking at her, but i will not show his face. This will be filmed as if it were from the girls point of view, through her eyes.

This is the front of my house. Inside here is where my filming will take place. This is also my establishing shot of my project to let the audience know whereabouts this film is being taken. Personally, I think it looks quite eerie, and will work well when I eventually film.

Cast & Crew - Kim Bradbury

This is Sam Rayner and he is 19. He played the Father and also the Stalker in the film. He had to drive Charlotte home and then tell her to "make sure you lock the doors, you never know what could happen" and then he had to drive off. We had to run through this scene a few times because although he has held a licence for almost 2 years now he has never driven a 4x4 so kept stalling! After that he then had to have a conversation with my teacher Chris Breese which I then used as a voice over.
Then as the stalker he had to walk across my gravel as I had the camera tilted upwards so we only got his legs in veiw and he also had to hold the camera to give the handheld effect the the camera shot was from his point of veiw. Later he then placed his hand on the tree and then as Charlotte walked past the inveiw window he walked towards the house once again with the handheld effect.

This is Charlotte Woodward and she is 17. She played the daughter and is therefore the key character. She had to be driven by Sam, walk out of the car ignoring her 'father' and then open the door, walk through and then not relock the door. She then greets Bailey, takes off her scarf and walks towards the kitchen to get some biscuits. As she walks back around to go upstairs to her room she hears her dog yelping and then realises that the door which she had closed was now open. She was in every scene and I believe that she played a convincing terrified young girl.

This is Bailey Bradbury and he is almost 2 years old! He had to be greeted by Charlotte and then all by himself he walked off. The sound effect later on sounds as though he is in trouble however "no animals were harmed in the making of this film."

This is my teacher Chris Breese who gave me and the rest of my class help and advice with our films. He also was the voice of the stalker who threatened the father after he got sacked.

This is Elizabeth Bradbury, in charge of Bradbury productions, and is my mother! She funded my film but also gave Sam permission to use her car on our drive way. She had to look after Bailey until he was called. She was an all round help organising when Sam and Charlotte were both free to come round and made sure that the house looked the same in both times that I filmed.

Cast & Crew - Charlotte Woodward

This is Josh Kershaw (27) - the 'stalker' in my project. His role is to call the house phone for the girl to pick up, and he has to stand outside and make himself noticeable through the window. Later on in the film, you get to see him from the waist down at the top of the stairs. This is my final scene.

This is Grainne McIntyre (17)- the young girl in my project. She is the key character as she is the main focus, the victim of the stalker. She is in every scene, having to play the role of the suspicious girl, afraid that someone is watching her.

This is Danielle Jordan (23) - the Costume Designer. Not only did Danielle contribute to the what the characters should wear, she also was an all round help, making sure everything was running smoothly. She also was the one who rang the house phone, for Grainne to pick up, as if it were the stalker who was calling her.

This is my real sister, Carly Woodward (23) - the Director of this film. Her role was to enable that everyone was in the right place at the right time. She also made sure that Josh came on Que in the scene, but signaling to him to come on. She also made sure that the lighting was in order, and came up with an inventive solution to hold up a lamp above Grainne's head when shooting some scenes.

Related Film Covers - Kim Bradbury

Panic Room is one of my main inspirations when making my film because it is about a parent and their daughter in their own home and they have been taken hostage. It is not the daughter's fault in both cases and they end well, with no gore; however this does not make it any less of a film because it is one of my favourites. My father showed me this film when I was younger and it terrified me and eventhough I have watched it so many times it still scares me however know I can appreciate the film and not just fear it.

In this film I enjoy that the girl doesn't know who the intruders are in this film which is similar to mine and also that the husband (like the father in my film) leaves a defenceless-looking female all alone. I also think that the soundtrack during the suspence sections of this film work very well and I hope to find a soundtrack quite similar.

Scream is another film that I took inspiration from because of the whole idea of the intrudor and the girl being home alone. I also feel that Scream was the first of many similar films like it of its kind, ie a girl home alone that is wary of someone in her own home.
Each poster is produced and distributed in such a way to gain the attention of the public. We know straight away that each film is scary because of the scary background figures (in Scream and Panic Room) and the close up faces which are quite shocking (in Scream and Panic Room). The font of all of them symbolise the genre of horror/thriller aswell as it is quite jagged and not bubbly as you would assume in comedy and love stories.

Latymer School "Mute" - Kim Bradbury

I particuarly chose this film because I think that it is a very good attempt for a student film and uses many media techniques very well and I have learnt from just watching it.
Strengths:
-the font of the titles go well with the genre of the film, and I like the way that they are animated.
-the soundtrack is interesting without being too overpowering and I like how it buids up and it compensates for the fact that there is no dialogue.
-I like how the music stops when the girl takes her headphones out, this is editted very well.
-the story line of the film is not known straight away which I enjoy as it makes me want to watch it even more.
-also the story line itself is very original and I think that it is a very effective one.
-the shots that they used were really good, especially when they are showing the fast texting which portrays the urgency to communicate.
-the close up of character's mouths work really well as it emphises how they cannot speak.
-the actors are really good and the main girl's facial expressions work really well.
-the bus scene is very effective as its filmed very well and portrays the girl's every day life.
-the way the texts are shown, clearly and immediatly I really like as its not complicated but still very effective.
-when the girl reads the text sent to her everything is silent and you can hear the vibration which works well as it emphasises her and everyone else being mute.
-in everyday life people murmer grunt and when its shown in this clip it also allows you to understand how some of us take this sense for granted.
-I particuarly like the scene where the girl is on the computor and they have managed to make the BBC news editted and this lets you know what is now going on.
-the ending sound works very well too.

Weaknesses:
-although the story line is very good, I am confused as to what can happen now apart from the scientists fixing people's voice boxes.
-from 2.05 - 2.09 in the clip the film is quite blurry, and I don't know if this is meant or not; however I do not think that it works.

Latymer School "Scarred" - Charlotte Woodward

This is a students project from Latymer School. I have focused on this particular project as it suits my genre, and I think I can learn from it.
Strengths:
Personal distribution company.
Good use of shots, and match-on-action.
Good use of titles - style of them.
It is clear that she has come home from a night out drunk - vulnerable.
Weak music to emphasize the terror.
Particularly like the scene where she leaves the lounge and walks into the kitchen. Before she turns on the light, there is darkness and a title appears which was very effective.
Loved the camera in the fridge scene.
Great facial expressions.
Great tracking shot from outside as if to impose that someone is watching her.
Weaknesses:
Was first slightly confused when she came home stumbling drunk, then she was sober in the next scene. Could've been more clear - possibly a scene to show that she fell asleep on the sofa, rather than opening her eyes in the following scene - wasn't very convincing that she had just woken up.
Could've made some scenes tighter in areas to increase intensity.

Costume Design - Charlotte Woodward

This is a typical outfit I plan on using for the girl character as it emphasizes how its just 'lounge' wear. She's only in her own home, she can wear comfortable clothes. The baggy shirt and the skin tight leggings shows how it's an easy wear outfit.
This is an outfit I plan on using for the male character, the 'intruder' of the film. He will be dressed in dark colours to emphasize how he wants to be disguised in the darkness outside, yet obvious when she discovers he is in her house. The fact that they're dark colours stresses how he is a dangerous man who is easily unidentifiable as he blends in.

Costume Ideas - Kim Bradbury

Charlotte and my friend Sam were the two charectors for the film. Sam played Charlotte's dad and then he doubled up to be her stalker. Before filming I had a look on the internet to get a few good ideas of what outfits the characters should wear. For the Dad, I chose these particular looks because he looks like a business man in the suit, he looks quite worried and unkept which would emphasise the worry that he has about firing the men at work.this was the look that I was going for:

These are the clothes in particular:

For Charlotte, who is going to play his daughter I thought that she needed to look quite girly and vunerable and this is why I chose for her to wear pink. The fact that its a jumper and not a tracksuit or something like that, i hoped would make it look like that she is quite wealthy and not very streetwise:
These are the clothes in particular:

For the stalker I chose a classic mysterious black outfit with a hat aswell so that this would cover alot of his face and physical features which hopefully emphases the thought of fear:

Film related covers - Charlotte Woodward

'Scream' is the main focus in which i have used ideas of how to film my own project. The idea of the superstitious phone call and the unknown intruder when the girl is home alone is similar to the ways in which this film has been produced
'One Missed Call' is a film I have looked upon due to one key element in my film - the 2 mysterious phone calls the girl receives. This film could also contribute to the title of my project e.g. Caller Withheld.

'The Strangers' is another great film I have looked at due to the mystery in not knowing who or where the intruder(s) have come from. The audio (loud bangs) is also a factor in which i have researched and used ideas in my project. I like the idea of how the intruder is in the house and the girl doesn't know, just as it is in my project.
All of these posters portray such an effective presentation of how the designers have intended it to be. We instantly know the type of genre they are from and what age group they are aimed at. Noticing the font, the close-up images and the information given on the cover sets the horror mood of the films.

Extended Scenes - Charlotte Woodward

These are additional/extended scenes to my coursework that I have chosen not to include, as I most definitely won't have time to edit it all in 2 minutes. Also, my main concern is that too much is happening in the 2 minutes of an opening to a film, therefore I am going to stop filming after I reveal the stalkers legs to the audience. However, heres how I first planned it to finish:
